Happy St. Patrick’s day! ☘️ Do you believe in luck? πŸŒˆ

Hiiiiiiiiiii! (I’m aware that’s annoying but people let you get away way with it when in a celebratory mood right? πŸ˜…). Depending on when you’re reading this, Happy St. Patrick’s day!! πŸ’š In a completely metaphorical way I went around the houses trying to think of a themed post for today πŸ’ because I knew there was one in me SOMEWHERE and then I came up with this! 😌 (Discussions are always a good go to πŸ˜‚). This one’s about luck which gets associated with Ireland quite a bit! (I’ll try not to get confused between the 4 leaved clover and a shamrock although that’s tricky as ones more so for luck πŸ€ and the other has a little bit of that and highlights St. Patrick’s day which is the reason why I’m writing this β˜˜οΈπŸ˜…).

It’s a short and sweet post, mainly to acknowledge the day in a roundabouts sort of way. Afterwards I might go out in the garden to celebrate the fact that there aren’t any snakes out there if that’s what St. Patrick did (apparently he didn’t actually drive them away so I grew up on a lie 😐 give me time to process that πŸ˜‚).

….I’m done. So! Luck could be to do with a pot of gold found at the end of a rainbow (which I still kind of believe….wait, can you even go to where rainbows end?? 🌈), A winning lottery ticket or above all surviving a zombie apocalypse! Those three things are what’s on my mind despite there being a million more realistic ways to define luck πŸ˜‚.

The definition of luck according to google is:

success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one’s own actions

Quite frankly, I hate that! πŸ’₯…😌

Whether you believe in it or not, the true meaning is all in how you look at things! πŸ‘€ Not everyone’s definition is the same and there doesn’t exactly need to be a right or wrong answer in this area when it comes to what keeps you going and feeling uplifted within a certain moment πŸƒ. In saying that though, acknowledging something that happened to you as luck might make you feel like you didn’t put anything towards an event occuring when I’m willing to bet that it’s the total opposite!! ✨ (And in turn kind of say there IS a wrong answer….I’m no good at remaining biased but I tried for like, a minute there πŸ˜ŒπŸŽ‰πŸ˜‚).

How you see luck is important in a sense. If you view it as something you add to before potentially receiving, then you’re on a roll! But if you see it solely as something that just happens by itself then you might have to wait a bit longer to see results if any and I’m not for the whole “EveRyThiNgs sET in sToNE” within life mantra (and I cannot for the life of me remember the physiological term for that!! Tell me?). I believe you’ve got to do things in order to see change πŸ™Œ.

Storytime! πŸ“š Two or three years ago my sister won a lot of concert competitions so we saw a load of amazing musicians but was it luck? Some might say it was but I see it as if she hadn’t of entered those competitions she wouldn’t have won 🀷. She did something to be in with that chance! (And I remember saying to a friend that it’s not my luck but I am taking FULL advantage of the situation πŸ˜‚). It all brought along a load of wonderful memories together and I can out myself back in those moments for a boost and reminder of not only what was but also what is to come! ✨ As my mum always says, you’ve gotta be in it to win it πŸ™Œ applying is a step YOU take (or take advantage of πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚).

Luck has many meanings, I used to have a “lucky” ring that had been passed down to me and held a story behind it (I wrote about it in one of my very first posts entitled be your own lucky charm! ✨ Feels so weird looking back on an old post but still resonating with it). Over time it dawned on me that the object held a certain power. Basically I didn’t think I’d do well without it at all. In trying get away from that mindset and well…GROW, I put it in a decidedly safe place and haven’t been able to find it since πŸ˜‘πŸ˜‚.

Your outlook on life + experiences that shaped it could have a massive effect on what you have to say about luck. There are a few things in my life that changed it entirely and could have been considered it but I like to put them down to having meaning. They’ve kept loved ones around and brought us time I treasure. Luck for me in those specific moments implies that it was a random occurrence when it couldn’t possibly be! πŸ’«

It’s easy to think others have all the luck in the world but we aren’t in their shoes to know what it took to get to that point + what it’s like to actually BE there. It’s kind of like how they say people only share the good side of their lives on social media. It’s their prerogative to do so but perceptions of viewers can cloud over reality until it becomes a bad thing and the good side appears to be the only side.

No one has a seamless life and honesty can be found in simply sharing the nice stuff too as long as no lies are introduced into the fold (but back on topic!). These sightings (… πŸ‘½?πŸ˜‚) can lead some people to say “Wow that’s lucky!” and it’s a phrase often used off the top of someone’s head. With it being an outsiders opinion of something that’s happened, they didn’t get the full look in on the journey so why add luck to the fold? 😡 I’m being a bit deep but it’s an interesting way to look at a side of it. I truly believe luck is what you define it as! πŸ€ (The amount of times I went to get shamrock and clover mixed up. This is the lucky one! πŸ˜‚).

Despite living on the emerald isle itself, this day isnt one my family would normally be celebrating. For personal reasons, we light a candle for a loved one ❀️. I was unsure about writing something upbeat or anything at all really but once I got this idea I went with it and I’m glad I did because it gave me something enjoyable and calming to put my thoughts into 🌟.

Thank you for reading!!

It means a lot that you’ve made it to the very end πŸ’« if you skipped I’ll never know the difference but even so πŸ˜ŒπŸ˜‚. How do you see luck? Do you believe in it? (A penny for your thoughts…to get it go to the end of a rainbow yeah? 🌈). I hope you have a wonderful day involving a shred of the realistic side of luck and enjoy any celebrations you have! Be sure to let me know what you’re up to in the comments, I’ll live vicariously through you πŸ˜‚β˜˜οΈ Take care and stay safe! βœ¨πŸ’•

    1. Recently it’s because of updating glitches where I cannot be bothered to set the time back to it’s original date 😌 but it used to be for trying out various tags to see how they do (Soon I’ll be getting a new phone so I’m hoping with that the glitches will go away πŸ€žπŸ˜‚)

  1. I believe that we create our own luck. I don’t have lucky socks or a lucky bracelet. I’m not super attached to any one item but I can see why it would bring some people comfort believing in a lucky item or superstition. One thing I will occasionally buy are lottery scratch tickets. I know it’s a waste of money and yet a part of me wants to think that luck does exist. A gambler at heart πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

    1. Very much so! ✨ For a long time a few years ago I was unknowingly stuck in a rut about the whole lucky item thing. It started out well, went a bit haywire then ended on good terms because of the power of choice when I put it away, never to be found again πŸ˜‚. When I started taking driving lessens I’d have a pair of lucky socks but they so often either weren’t out of the wash or the dogs stole them that I gave up on the idea. I just used a lotto scratchcard, no joke!! πŸ˜‚ I got them this morning and feel like if they’re spaced out then so is the enjoyment so it’ll make it worth it! Haha they’re fun to do, usually I’ll get given a few for my birthday but I couldn’t wait till then πŸ˜ŒπŸ˜‚. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, is always lovely to recieve your comments! ❀️

  2. Happy St. Patrick’s Day! πŸ€
I loved reading your post on luck. I like believing in luck or a lucky item. For the longest time I had a lucky bracelet. I don’t know, one day I found it in my closet and once I put it on and it made me feel like I had good luck. I had to take it off years ago because it was pulling threads on all my sweaters πŸ˜… and it was losing charms. I’m still looking to replace it, one day!

    1. Ahhh thanks!! β€οΈπŸ€ It’s interesting to hear about how people move on from lucky items, thread pulling is a good reason! 😬 Charm bracelets are a lovely idea for luck because then each addition to it means something different 😍✨
