Welcome back! (Even if you’re new here we might have crossed paths in another dimension 😵 you never know 😂). I hope you’re doing well and that you had a wonderful Christmas!! 🎄💚 I had a lovely time despite pain that upset me as the day went on, it only meant I had no choice but to revive the festive feeling on boxing day to get the whole experience 😏😂.
Now, I’m intrigued to know whether or not judging alone by the title of this post alone can you relate? Is this a time for questioning whether or not resolutions are worth it or are you the opposite and wanting for 2021 to make up for the previous year? (And so on, I know there are loads of other reasons in-between 🙌😌 I’m just in no mood to list more 😂).
This is the time of year that I usually sit back and revisit my yearly resolutions but not only did that seem pointless for 2020, it’s also pretty daunting to look back to a time when I didn’t know how this year would turn out 😐 (Its so weird seeing past me say that 2020 felt fresh in January…whatever happened to the sense of foreboding I used to pride myself in when I’d imagine I was psychic 😌😂).
That’s not to say I didn’t make loads of memories in 2020 though and I also did achieve a good lot of what was listed but in deciding against going over those goals (which you can find HERE) it dawned on me that I don’t want to place unnecessary expectations on 2021, especially seeing as I do seasonal bucket lists anyway meaning I’ll still be putting what I want out into the universe 😂.
Before I started this blog I didn’t feel like there was a way to write + not forget about resolutions so they either didn’t stick or none were set at all. A year into this journey (2018) I didn’t hesitate to give a list a go after not thinking to do so in 2017 (HERE’S a trip down memory lane!). I have since written one every year but seeing as that was only 3 years ago it’s not exactly a long-standing thing that I’ll regret missing out on. Maybe in 2022 I’ll change my mind but I think 2021 doesn’t need that chosen element of pressure even if it does start out as a fun thing.
In my experience if you think something is going to be overly great then it has a tendency to backfire. A smarter way of looking at it is that I should probably consider a more practical list of resolutions but to be honest, I’m not cut out for that mindset 😂. I’m more likely to go overboard and ruin it than end up having it be realistic so to avoid disappointment I’m going to be open-ended and open-minded with decisions by not envisioning the new year as this big second chance. What about you?
Are you going to set resolutions so as to have a plan to adhere to (which is a fabulous idea and I know it will work for loads of people I see doing it as they have the drive to make it happen 🎉🚘), will you carry on with goals/dreams and not finalize by applying that big title or are you going to go with the flow? (You still have a crazy amount of motivation holding you up and it’ll noticably appear in those moments of action! ⚡).
Maybe this is all a bit tipsy turvy for me because I still have plans, I feel like you’ve got to have something of an idea of what you want to get done/go towards in order to keep sane in this life 😌, but they’re not set in stone so at this point I’m going with the flow 🌊.
At the moment it’s difficult to know what’s possible with my health and it’s definitely put into perspective what I want to do even if it cannot currently get done. Although that’s bittersweet because of the not being able to physically go towards those goals I’m just just happy to have them at all and I know that hope will keep me going in moments when I’m not feeling strong mentally or physically.
I have those goals but I won’t limit them to a particular timeframe 📅 (some might argue that goals are the same thing as resolutions but I disagree, purely to feed the argument itself 😏😂). I’m not going into this year thinking it’s gonna be bad, quite the opposite actually! I just don’t want to lumber it with 2020’s leftovers as a lot of those resolutions would just have been pushed forward, that would be bad energy dust 😂.
So even though there is still one more post to go this year I am closing off a chapter, farewell 2020! 👋 Stuff occured but you just happened to be the number it all fell upon so I don’t blame you for purely just being there in the wrong place at the wrong time. It hasn’t been the best but I did learn a lot and that can only be a good thing (we’re all graduating 🎓😂). Its the end of an era or at least at some point it will be! 🤞
I am excited to see what is to come, even if the year has had major tough times it is important to keep in mind that all years do, depending on where you are/what you go through. This was more widespread and not to the same extent as previous problems but depending on circumstance and the way you look at things it’s a strength builder that hasn’t mollycoddled to get to this stage. It shows you who really cares about those around them and who will be there to help pick up the pieces afterwards.
2021 won’t be easy or perhaps even the best because we’re still getting through this and are yet to come out the other side. We’ll make it whilst keeping in mind that not a whole year that can be bad, it’s the times within and in amongst that there can be wonderful moments if you’re just willing and open to seeing them. I alongside the rest will try my best to take it in realistically for what it is with hope on side for better times ⭐. CHEERS to that! ☕🙌😂.
Thank you for reading! 😊 Soooo what are your thoughts? Share them because I’d love to hear another or perhaps a similar perspective! Also feel free to share how your Christmas went because there’s always an ear here for that 👂🎄😂. Take care and I’ll see you very soon! ✨💞
