Hi everyone! π Today is my mum’s birthday!! π She has a jam-packed day ahead full of being spoiled rotten (it’s the only time she’ll accept it ππ), a bouncy castle π° (which should be up and running by the time this post goes up actually!) and a whole host of treats including a tea party, a movie day (Downtown Abbey, The Joker and the Alice in Wonderland from 1999) and of course presents! If you’re reading this mum then I stick to the story that you don’t have any presents, I’m just saying that you do to look good π.
Also, it hasn’t escaped me that your birthday is going to be way better than mine so just ignore the signs stuck up with sticky tape around the house that look like they say “Happy 22nd”, they are not there to humour you…they’re there for me a couple months early ππ
Facts aside, words cannot explain how much my mum means to me (alliteration surely can right? π) but I thought I would dedicate a haiku to her today in a sore attempt to show her β¨. She’s aware that I’m posting this but is yet to see it so it’ll be a real surprise! π For those of you that donβt know, a haiku is a poem made up of 3 lines. The first line is supposed to have 5 syllables, the second has 7 and the third has 5 again (thought Iβd just explain that as doing so in my last few haiku posts seemed to help a few of you and Iβm nothing if not helpful π and yes, I copied that from the last one because I’m also lazy π). Some of this haiku rhymes because I found it flowed better like that too, but not all of it!
I’ve seen people do long haikus before but I’m not sure what the proper title for them is so I’m going to rename them haiku trails! Here goes nowhere near everything……PS. you’re all basically peeping Tom’s right now so you should be ashamed of yourselves! π
To the moon and back
is never said flippantly
we will always add:
Like a silent decree
“Back again for good measure”
…I don’t think you see.
You’ve been through a lot
and deserve to be happy
in a cannon shot
I’d prove it to you
up and up and up until
meaning goes askew.
Could never have asked
for a better mum than you
would I even dare? π
Both have the same quirks
like leaning out the window
fresh air and sunset.
The rain isn’t scary
“Imagine you’re in a tent” βΊππ
that’s what you told me
I have ever since
when it comes to you I am
easy to convince.
Through not even trying
adventures are never far
“Constantly” sighing
Not bad for one flaw π€·
Don’t put yourself down
I’m even clutching at straws π
Because you’re perfect
and you’re has one syllable
who would have thought it? π€
Happy birthday mum!
Love you more than life itself
now, isn’t that wholesome!? π
So ignoring the structure of a haiku, what I’m basically trying to say is:
To the moon and back
To the bravest, most selfless person I know
You’re funny and kinda smart (but you didn’t hear it from me!).
You are my inspiration
To my mum
Oh how I love you so!
*This is the part where she swoons because it’s too much love to handle and I look like the perfect angel* ππ
Thank you for reading this dramatic display of emotion! π I’ll leave it there because I could go on for days and still feel frustrated that I’m not expressing the extent of how I feel ππ. For the lovely lady herself, I’ve come to realize that the only way to make you see how much I love you is to say that I love you more than you love me but then you say “never!” and we go back and forth so JINX no comebacks, I win……even though it isn’t a competition or anything ππ Now mum! If you’re reading this then we must away, these people know too much (A cheshire cat grin just for you! π). Hope you guys have a lovely day! π I remember you’re there, I just got lost in my thoughts again π Right! If my calculations are correct about the timing of this post then I’m off to hop on the bouncy castle and join in on the partayyy ππ€£ππ€£π
Happy birthday to your mom β€π I already did it back then. I love that we have such a good relationship with our mothers β€ They are the best. Beautiful haiku

Happy birthday to your mum! I hope she had a brilliant day and Iβm so sorry Iβm so late, what a lovely haiku and my mum means so much to me too! She honestly is more like a best friend than a mum but she is literally always there for me itβs wonderful βΊοΈ

Thank you!! She had a great day and it was definitely one to remember π That’s so lovely to hear, there’s nothing quite like the bond we can have with those who have cared for us and made us who we are today β¨π
