12 days of Xmas 2018: Day 9 – Winter self care rituals

Hi elf-ryone! πŸ’š Can you believe how fast we are getting through 12 days of Xmas!? I hope you’re enjoying it! Today I’m going to be sharing some Winter self care rituals with you! With every season comes a number of things that you should do in order to take care of yourself both physically and mentally and some are common knowledge but others fall out of the sleigh with all the other presents we wanted and never got (I had to say that! πŸ˜‚) but it’s never too late to incorporate them into your life and so here are some Winter self care rituals!

Make your bed as soon as you get out of it πŸ›Œ

This is a good way to start the day and tell your unconscious mind that sleep is not on the horizon anytime soon until those covers are pulled back again later on πŸ˜‚ (keeping it covered makes your bed stay warmer too!).

Open the curtains/do the blinds up every morning

Let some natural light in! It separates night from day and sets you on the right track to fully waking up.

Eat what you want and don’t put yourself down about it!

This is the time of year when all the good snacks come out but so does that niggling insecurity that it’s unhealthy to eat it, well it’s not if you make sure you’re still getting all the stuff your body needs. You only live once so eat what you want!!

Keep hydrated and make sure you get all the vitamins you need!

In order to fight viruses (or the dreaded lurgy as my family like to call it πŸ˜‚) and to just generally stay as healthy as you possibly can.

Get outside

Wrap up warm and head on out there! Yeah I know it’s FREEZING and we’d all much rather stay in the warmth but if you bundle up in that massive coat that you debated throwing away because it takes up so much space in your wardrobe then you can bring some of the warmth with you!

Remember that it’s okay not to feel festive

I admit I’m not not feeling it madly right now but looking back I’ve had years when I’ve felt it less and that is what I’m holding on to. It’s down to many things and one of them is that sometimes when all the festivities are being shoved in your face it dwindles and the want is there only because you feel it should be but it’s okay if you’re not in the merry mood!

Put a hot water bottle in your bed in the evenings!

Trust me and thank me later πŸ‘πŸ˜‚

Thank you for reading! πŸ˜‰ You can find the rest of the 12 days of Xmas posts so far HERE! πŸŽ„ Can you think of any more self care rituals we should all try to do? Let us all know and have a lovely day πŸ’š

  1. I love all of these tips ❀️ So useful! I agree with opening the curtains even when the light hurts haha. I’m so used to the dark πŸ˜‚ I also drink lots of water which is important. Yeah with Christmas it feels like you have to be happy and it’s really hard for many people.

  2. Live these! ❀
First 2 I always do, especially opening the curtains. To be sure, I prefer to sleep with the curtains open so the sunlight wakes me at dawn. The last 2 will require a miracle.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  3. Love all of these! I have changed my mindset towards treats this year. You’re right, lots of people usually beat themselves up for having treats during the holidays but it doesn’t mean you’re β€œbad”! It’s all about moderation, and it’s good to enjoy!
