How to keep a blogging schedule!

Hi everyone! How are you? ❀️ Today I’m going to be sharing how to keep a blogging schedule! I find having one highly beneficial to keeping Elsie LMC up and running. Ever since I started blogging back in 2016 I have followed a blogging routine of at first uploading posts every 2nd day (which got to be a bit obsessive so I’m glad I broke out of it πŸ™ŒπŸ˜‚) and now every 3rd day! (That extra day makes the world of difference I swear!). I want to tell you how easy a habit that can become.

Of course at the end of the day the decision is up to you whether or not you wish to stick to a schedule and it’s perfectly fine if not but if you do want to then keep on reading! πŸ‘€ Here are my tips on how to keep a blogging schedule:

1. Figure out a time that works best for you!

Whether that be every day, once a week or twice a month, choose a time that you feel comfortable with and think you will be capable of keeping up with. Know that you can forever be changing this time as long as you let your readers know about it and hopefully you’ll find the right time for you in the end!

If you’re unsure what you should do, start by not having a schedule and monitoring the days you manage to get a post up. Try and find a correlation between these times, fit it into a schedule and see how it goes!

2. Have posts prepared in advance

In your drafts folder have some spare posts that you’re pleased with ready to go up so that there isn’t a hectic rush to put something up at your chosen time.

3. Keep the ideas coming!

If your drafts folder is empty then resort to a list of posts you’ve been thinking of doing but are yet to start or just write from the heart πŸ’“. Make sure you’re 100% into sharing something before you go ahead and do it though!

4. Know that your schedule doesn’t have to stick to a particular time of the day!

It can be very hard to know the day and the time you’re going to upload a post at so knowing that as long as your post makes it up on the day stated sometimes has to be enough instead of trying to stick to a time frame as well. I usually upload at 3pm but I don’t beat myself up about it if I can’t make that time.

5. Schedule a post to go up by itself

This is a very good idea if you’re rushed off your feet and don’t think you’ll remember to put something up. WordPress allows you to set a time for posts to go up!

If you want to schedule a post to go up automatically by itself then by all means do but know that sometimes this doesn’t work and the posts may need to be triggered by going on to your site page afterwards! πŸ™„ (The amount of times I’ve thought a post went up and it didn’t until I checked!πŸ˜‚).

6. Set an alarm on your phone or leave a sticky note where you’ll see it!

Depending on where you will be at the time the post is supposed to go up you can have your phone alert you or even leave a note to yourself somewhere you’re destined to see it! πŸ‘€

Thank you for reading πŸ˜‰ Have you any more tips on how to keep a blogging schedule? Let me know, take care and have a lovely day! ❀️

  1. Thanks for writing this post! When I first started blogging, I was really good at keeping a consistent schedule and was able to post twice a week. Ever since I started my full-time job, I haven’t been able to keep up with my schedule. And in a way, I lost the motivation. For now, I’m aiming to publish two posts a month. Your tips have really helped me find the motivation again!

    1. Thats a shame, I have a blogging notebook where I keep track of all ideas, even if they’re just a name that I can go back to branch out from. I have no idea how I kept going for a year of posting every second day though that would drive me crazy now so I’m glad I stopped πŸ˜‚ Yes I think if you receive that notification it’s gone up! I always double check and it has if it says so and hasn’t if it didn’t send through anything ❀️xx
