πŸŽƒ How to get into the mood for Halloween! πŸ‘»

Hi everyone! How are you today? Before I start this post I would like to say thank you to everyone who commented and reassured me in my last post! I can’t tell you how good it felt to get that off my chest and I really appreciated your kind words πŸ’— In the past I realize I haven’t really been as excited for Halloween as I could have been (aside from watching Halloweentown movies! πŸ˜‚) But this year I am and so I have been trying to figure out why this is incase you can’t get in the mood for it and I have come up with a couple of things that you can do to hopefully get excited for it! So here we go! πŸ‘»

Go outside in the evening!

Everything is so magical and holds an air of mystery! It’s like nature is sleeping (not that you would want to disturb that or anything but we’re trying to get you into the spirit of things here! πŸ˜‚). See who can make the funniest/scariest shadow and look up at the stars/moon (it could even be a full one! 🐺 I just googled full moon and it said for Dublin it can be any night this month…why does my phone just assume because I live in Ireland I live in Dublin? Ahh wait location settings! πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚).

Prepare a costume!

For many, when “Halloween” is mentioned costumes come to mind because it’s the one time of the year we are given free reign to dress up as whoever/whatever we want to be! Whether that is a πŸ‘Ή or a 😺! I once went on a Halloween walk in primary school dressed as a cat (the only features that distinguished me from everyone else was the ears and fake nails pushed through a pair of gloves..the fangs were too uncomfortable to condsider πŸ˜‚) every other year when I was little I was a ghost or on the odd year I was marcel marceau to a party (I did not mime once! πŸ˜‚). Although I can’t remember going trick or treating (I think I did when I was really small) I would still get dressed up for the fun of it! Even if you’ve got nothing planned for the night itself get done up in some way so that the one night when you can doesn’t pass with nothing! (Paint those nails an odd colour! πŸ’…πŸ˜‚ A couple of weeks back I painted my toenails red and I completely forgot in the middle of the night when I stumbled to the toilet without my glasses and jumped when I saw them thinking I’d had an accident! πŸ™ˆπŸ˜¬πŸ˜‚).

Make craft decorations!/Buy Halloween decor!

Sometimes a little reminder of the occasion makes you more eager for the night itself and a decorative piece can do that! I would say paint words onto a white quilt in red but something about that sends images too creepy even for Halloween through my head so maybe not! πŸ˜‚ (Can you tell I’m stumped for craft ideas? πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚). The tradition of carving a pumpkin can make a perfect decoration or even just buying a fake pumpkin to design in some way! πŸŽƒ if you buy decorations don’t feel like they will be a waste as they can be put away to be used again next year too!

Bake some creepy treats! (Or just treat yourself! 😏🍭🍬)

Food is the main component of any season and Halloween doesn’t change that! (Well of course we have to eat to live πŸ™„πŸ˜‚). For some reason s’mores make me think of Halloween (maybe it’s the ghost like stringy marshmallow…yummy! πŸ˜‹πŸ˜«πŸ˜‚). If you can’t come up with something to bake there’s no reason why you can’t sneak a sweet or two out of the lot put away for trick or treaters (it’s not like they take them all anyway! You’re just speeding up the process of a clean bowl! πŸ˜πŸ˜‚).

Play some party games!

Games bring people together (which is a good thing if your hoping on surviving Halloween night! πŸ˜‚)and they never fail in creating laughter. Do apple bobbing or Halloween themed charades!

Watch Horror movies! πŸ™ˆπŸΏ

Like I mentioned above about watching Halloweentown, not all Halloween movies have to be scary (because I sure try to avoid the ones that are! πŸ˜‚). I think that the ultimate Halloween movie is “Hocus Pocus” because it’s always on πŸ˜‚ (even when it’s not Halloween it’s on πŸ˜πŸ˜‚). Last month my family and I went to see “IT” (originally because I dared my dad to because he’s scared of clowns and I said we’d all go if he did πŸ˜‚ well in the end he wasn’t scared and neither was my mum..they were both laughing whilst my sister and I hid πŸ˜‚) and I couldn’t sleep for a week! (I’m okay with my bedroom door fully closed in the dark now at night like before! πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚). I watched the film over the top of my glasses so I didn’t see the worst bits 😏 but all in all I’m glad I went to see it because I have never instigated a trip to the cinema to see a horror before (and I don’t think I ever will again! πŸ˜‚). There are Halloween movies for those of us who are easily scared and many more for those who aren’t so stock up on sweets and popcorn and watch one! (I might try do this on the night itself 😬🍿).

Go to an event/party!

This is the one time of the year when there are actually events where I live (or close enough! πŸ˜‚) and I’m so tempted to go to the Nightmare Realm in Dublin!! But I’m not sure if I can handle that kind of shock if I’m still fretting over PennywiseπŸŽˆπŸ˜‚ (Nightmare Realm looks like a terrifying alternative dimension to the London Dungeon πŸ˜‚). Why not go somewhere hosting a tour or a costume party? Or even hold your own party for family/friends!

Use face paints!

I love face paints and snazaroo are my favourite brand for them as the colours really show and don’t just rub in and not fully disappear like an out of date moisturizer πŸ˜‚ but many face paints are good in getting the job done and creating the look you want. Last year I made up my left arm to look like a maggot infested injury and I was so proud of it πŸ˜‚ I have photos of it on my laptop so I will send them to my phone to show you closer to the night itself when the fact it’s Halloween will be a valid reason as to why I show you something so horrible! πŸ˜‚ Face paints can complete the look of an outfit or even just be fun to apply and wear any day scaring people (never miss an opportunity! πŸ˜‚).

Thank you for reading! πŸ˜‰πŸ’— I hope you’re now excited about Halloween if you weren’t already! What gets you in the mood for Halloween? πŸŽƒ Have a lovely day!
