Eating Something Strange!

Hi everyone! How are you? I recently mentioned on my unique blogger award post that I had one draft and it was a mini review on some locusts (I thought they were crickets at the time πŸ™ˆ) I bought from TKmaxx….and ate! πŸ™Š I wrote it and then held back on posting it as I was incredibly embarrassed that I would believe it was worthy of a review in the first place πŸ˜‚ and that I dined on them at all πŸ˜‹. A couple of you asked me to post it and so I have decided to but if we can agree on one simple thing…we never talk about it again! πŸ˜‚ This post was written a few months ago so I guess we are going back in time to a couple of days after the dreaded experience:

Todays post is a random short as I could not pass up the opportunity to show you this!! The last time I did a post where I described a taste (or thereabouts πŸ˜‚) was my sour sweets haul and review (which was a dream compared to this!) This post is not a joke I swear! πŸ˜‚ I would like to think it is but it is not. A couple of weeks ago I bought a small tub of locusts from TKmaxx by the brand Good Life and have been waiting for the best time to try them (after avoiding them πŸ˜‚). They were €3 come down from €12 (allot of stickers as you can guess no one wanted them πŸ˜‚) and I cannot resist a deal I’m afraid! πŸ˜‚

They are advertised as being high in protein (not that that makes them any more approachable πŸ˜¬πŸ˜‚). The first person to try one was my dad who said they taste like pistachios 😦 (update: they do not…either way I never want to eat pistachios again! πŸ˜‚). On Wednesday I decided to bring them over to my friend’s house (the perfect guest always brings a gift πŸ˜‚) where we were much smarter with the situation at hand πŸ˜‚ what makes anything tasty??……… chocolate!! πŸ˜‚ So locusts and chocolate spread it was!

Throw in a few photos to gross you out! Aren’t I lovely to you! πŸ˜‚.

After grimacing for a good hour and wishing I could zip my mouth closed 🀐 I did it! I ate it!

I decided to start with a wing as for some reason I thought they would be like a crisp, a crisp that is incredibly difficult to digest! πŸ˜‚ it wouldn’t snap 😫 even though it was small and paper thin so I spat that part out and I should not have! Because then I actually realized what I was eating and it sunk in just seeing a wing laying there πŸ˜‚ I suppose it can’t be that different from eating chicken or bacon…dry 😐, but come on it’s an insect!! I feel evil and disgusting! πŸ˜‚

I definitely found it easier to consider eating the half bodied ones (I can’t believe I’m actually writing this! πŸ˜‚) because then you know for sure they’re dead! They should be anyway but I just don’t trust them. If you look at the jar too long it looks like they are moving!! 😬 I hate mind games!! I held my breath before I ate half a body (the side without the eyes looking at me accusingly) and washed it down with water. IT WAS CRUNCHY (excuse the captitals I’m screaming!) and I don’t think I have ever tried anything with the same texture before. The closest thing I can think of is flaky pastry 😬 The next body went down a sore treat with the chocolate spread 😜 want to know something even more horrible?…later when I was thirsty I drank that water forgetting it tasted like locusts and it was a struggle to keep it down πŸ˜¨πŸ˜‚ I never want to think about it again!!…..well first I have to figure out what to do with the rest of the jar! πŸ€”πŸ˜‚ No one will go near them! So I thought I should dip them in chocolate and pass them off as fruit! πŸ‘πŸ˜‚ What do you think? Would you have eaten them? 😬

Thank you for reading! πŸ˜‰πŸ’— What is the strangest thing you have ever eaten? Have a lovely day!

    1. I don’t blame you for not wanting to try it! πŸ˜‚ I bet even if it had turned out tasty I would probably still be put off knowing what it is πŸ˜‚ I still can’t believe I did it πŸ˜¬πŸ˜‚
